Concentrating on the important

Posted on: Wednesday, June 01, 2011

In virtually all lines of work, the ability to drown out distractions and hone in on important tasks is crucial to success. But as most agents can attest, distractions can sometimes make it difficult to prioritize.

Producers Web recently published an article that may help agents concentrate on the important.

The source says one of the best ways is to make a list of all the tasks that need to be done, placing them in the order of significance.

Once that's done, Producers Web says to clear one's desk of everything that may be a distraction. Phone calls may cause people to get side tracked, so even turning off one's phone should also be considered, according to the source.

Finally, while it may seem like a good idea to work on completing the task before taking a break, Producers Web says to do that could be a mistake. Instead, the source says agents should take regular breaks. Getting up to stretch one's legs or take a quick walk can be just the thing agents need to refocus themselves for the home stretch of finishing an important task.

Some of the most successful agents are able to prioritize, as it results in more insurance leads and sales.
