The New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance, along with the Departments of Environmental Protection and Community Affairs, warned residents of the Garden State that home insurance reviews should be done to make sure they are covered in case of wildfires, and homeowners should take measures to protect their home.
It is important to take an inventory of all of the items in the home, as well as keep vegetation under control around the home, the report said, according to NJToday.com. Forest fires are common in the state, especially if there is a dry spell.
"The break from extremely dry weather makes it an ideal time for homeowners to review their insurance policies to make certain they have enough coverage to replace their homes and all of their contents in the event of a loss due to a wildfire," said Ken Kobylowski, acting commissioner for DOBI, according to the news source.
Those who live in areas that can receive disasters such as wildfires may want to not only review their policies, but also try to find a stronger option. With the many home insurance quotes available, a person could find the policy they need to ensure their dwelling is covered for a reasonable price.
