Life insurance nets celebrity spokesperson

Because life insurance is something that tends to be purchased by older individuals, it can be difficult to find young life insurance leads. But a new life insurance spokesperson may help with that.

According to the nonprofit Life Foundation, a company which specializes in providing life insurance information to consumers, NBA and reality television star Lamar Odom will serve as its spokesman during Life Insurance Awareness Month, which begins in September.

"Lamar is living proof of the amazing impact that life insurance can have on a person's life, and we're thrilled that he has agreed to share his story so publicly by serving as the spokesperson for Life Insurance Awareness Month," said Marvin Feldman, president and CEO of the LIFE Foundation.

Odom's mother died at the young age of 35, but because she had purchased life insurance, he did not struggle financially. Odom says he attributes his mom's wise financial decisions to where he's ended up in life.

The Life Foundation says Odom will appear in radio and television spots starting in August.

Positive examples and celebrity endorsements may often serve as an extra incentive for consumers to purchase life insurance, especially if they had previously been on the fence.
