Life insurance purchases trailing travel insurance

A new poll suggests there could be some sales opportunities for insurance agents, particularly those who are in the life insurance market.

According to price comparison website, travel insurance purchases have peaked as consumers plan out vacations for extended holidays throughout the year. However, life insurance purchases have trailed off.

Andrew Stocks, director at the price comparison website, said some individuals may be under the false impression that one type of insurance is all they need.

"While it is right that people should buy travel insurance for when they are abroad, many are forgetting the value of life insurance at home," said Stocks. "From protecting your mortgage to providing financial security for dependents, life insurance is an important consideration."

He added that while two weeks' worth of coverage may be good for travel, it doesn't compare to the lifetime of protection that can be had with life insurance.

Agents may want to make their life insurance leads aware of this and emphasize that there are a variety of plans to choose from that can provide them with proper coverage at a reasonable price.
