While many insurance professionals acknowledge the impact social media has on their insurance prospecting efforts, a recent survey indicates they may still be underestimating its worth.
According to LIMRA, a considerable number of executives struggle with how they can effectively manage their resources to get the most out of social media interaction. As a result of this, LIMRA will be hosting a conference later this summer that will delve into how agents can maximize their experiences with websites like Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.
The event, dubbed "Social Media for Financial Services Conference, is slated to be held in Boston, Massachusetts, on August 22.
The three-day event will feature a variety of presentations and talks about social media, including from social media expert Erik Qualman, author of "Socialnomics." On the first day of the conference, he'll discuss how social media has changed the way in which consumers buy and research insurance-related products and what providers need to do to take advantage.
In addition, for insurance agents who remain unfamiliar with social media, they may want to consider attending a special workshop called "Social 101." It should provide a comprehensive overview of the topic and how insurance professionals can make it work for them.
